In early June, the U.S. began lifting sanctions that had been placed on Iran beginning with various Iranian officials and national Iranian oil companies. The apparent goal was to both improve the price of oil and regain momentum on stalled nuclear agreement talks in Vienna. As of now, the president’s administration continues to lift sanctions on Iran although their nuclear program is moving ahead.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said last month that Iran’s nuclear weapon breakout time is only getting closer. Some who oppose the removal of sanctions say the administration is wasting diplomatic leverage by continuing to ease them.
An Iranian General stated that American has never been Iran’s friend and called the U.S. foreign policy ineffective.
